Realizing a demand in wholesale human pharmaceuticals, Roland Rasquinha opened Alchem in 1985. He started out with 3 employees and successively branched out into other areas of expertise. His son, Brian Raquinha joined the company’s management team in 2010 after following his father’s footsteps in becoming a pharmacist.
Today, Alchem is an enterprise of 60 employees from several countries, supplying products from all continents and holding the sole distribution license for dozens of brands in Burundi. For more than 30 years it has grown into the major player in pharmaceuticals, veterinary products, agrochemicals and medical equipment in this small country in the heart of Africa.
